Sunrise Cityscape Mugs

50.00

I love a good sunrise ...and sunset. I'm an early riser. Early, like 5:00 am early, so I see the sun rise up over the horizon most mornings. A few summers ago, my good friend and fellow artist, Akiko Oguchi, invited me to do some sunrise hikes in the Columbia River Gorge. Let's just say it's a hell of a way to start your day! Now I'm creating my own sunrises on my mugs for you to enjoy.

These mugs are a collaboration between myself and potter Wil LaBelle. Wil throws the forms on the potter's wheel using an earthenware clay, then I paint a layer of white slip ( liquid clay) on them, before hand painting the backgrounds and carving away the windows, sky and outlines of the buildings. It's quite the process, but a labor of love for sure.

Each mug holds 12 ounces of liquid.

The colors I use are the same, but each mug is unique. Variations are definite, but that's the beauty of handmade creations.

I do my best to have mugs made and stocked, but often times they'll be made to order. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery. My tiny fingers can only work so fast!
