Art in the Burbs

  • Tigard High School

Art in the Burbs was purposefully and creatively designed to weave local artists with student artists.  20% of each artist’s sales will be retained to benefit The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools’ (FTTS’) Art in the Burbs Grant program. Grants are awarded to each of the district’s schools to use only in their Arts programs – music, fine art, performing art, and writing. FTTS is a 501(c)3 organization.

Buckman Art Show & Sell

Stop by Buckman Elementary School in SE Portland and see me, plus 140 other talented local artists at the Buckman Art Show and Sell. I'm excited to be able to help raise funds for this wonderful art focused school, and to return to my original Portland neighborhood (when I moved here in 2005, I lived in the apartments just across the street from Buckman, so it's an extra special place to me). 20% of all art sales are donated to the schools programs.

Art in the Burbs

I am so excited to have been invited to participate in  Art in the Burbs October 9-11th. I love a good art festival, but one that gives back to local schools and helps fund art programs for kids... that's something I can really get behind! Read on for details.

Local Artists Helping Student Artists

Festival featuring cards, ceramics, exterior art, glass, hanging art, jewelry, textiles, wood and alternative mediums.

Alberta Rider Elementary will once again host Art in the Burbs. It will be transformed into an art festival with original works from over 75 juried artists available for sale. The Foundation’s Art in the Burbs brings a diverse range of art. Explore the juried artist page to view last year’s artists. A highlight – you will be awed by talented Tigard-Tualatin students as you stroll through the student art gallery and entertained by student musicians performing throughout the weekend.

20% of artist sales will be applied to support performing and fine art programs in all Tigard-Tualatin schools (elementary, middle and high school). Funds are distributed through our Art in the Burbs Grant program at The Foundation for Tigard-Tualatin Schools.

The Recycled Rain Project Opening Reception

I am thrilled to learn that my work was accepted into the 2015 Recycled Rain Project, a project that was founded to help bring awareness to local artists and the various water issues facing both our state and other’s abroad.

The Fourth Annual Recycled Rain Show will take place on May 9th 2015 at the Olympic Mills Gallery in Portland, Oregon.  All juried artists will create original works with collected rainwater. While the subject matter in the paintings is varied, the overall concept is to bring to light simple ways that we can rethink the way we use water.

As part of the exhibit we will also highlight everyday things that individuals can do to make a difference. A portion of the sale of any works are donated to a water-based charity. We hope to do our small part to start a greater movement to help others realize what a precious commodity we have and ways that individuals can help make a difference here and abroad.

I will be creating a unique piece of art using recycled rainwater, just for this show.  Updates sharing my paintings progress will be posted on my blog in the weeks leading up to the show. Please stop by to see my new work and the work of all of the talented Portland artists participating.

Community Warehouse Table and Chair Affair

Looking for something fun and creative to do and help a good cause at the same time? Check out the Community Warehouse's annual fundraiser the Table and Chair Affair. Artists are invited to select a table or chair from the warehouse and turn it into a functional work of art. Each piece is then auctioned off at a dinner event on April 18th at the Leftbank Annex. Tickets to the event can be purchased through their website.

You can see all of the completed artwork on their artist page and see the progress of my own chair here. *Note: you must purchase tickets to attend this event.
